What a fabulous start to 2020 we've had at Newton Primary School!
We're in the process of sprucing up our lovely school and it's really starting to look better already. Amethyst Class, Tanzanite Class, Opal room and the KS1 corridor have been freshly painted and are looking great. Inevitably, when classrooms are being decorated, this can lead some some disruption. However, the children have coped really well with working in the hall. Infact, some have quite enjoyed the change! Our school is going to look absolutely fabulous when it's all completed and we are working hard to make it a pleasant working environment for our children.
January and February have been a busy (and blowy!) couple of months. Our children have taken part in some fun activities including basketball at Tibshelf Secondary School and the annual Dance Festival at Chesterfield's Winding Wheel. As always, they did us incredibly proud!
Diamond Class had a special visitor in to help them with their dinosaur topic work. Pete, the animatronic dinosaur, came into the hall and thrilled the children. Squeals of delight could be heard throughout the school. It really was a spectacle to behold.
Tanzanite Class came to the end of their flute lessons and invited parents/carers in to enjoy a flute concert. They have all worked so hard and it really showed. Well done Tanzanite.
As a whole school, we've participated in the NSPCC Number Day and Safer Internet Day. We also had a delicious cake sale to raise funds for our WOW days, which make learning so much more fun for our children.
Our Friends of Newton (FON) organised a Valentine Disco, which was well attended. They are busy raising money for some fabulous playground markings, which the children are going to absolutely love! Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter feeds for future events.
Time now for a well deserved rest for our incredibly hard-working staff, our lovely Newton families and our wonderful children. Have a fabulous half-term break!
