Harvest Festival
Fri 04 Oct 2019On Tuesday 1st October, we held our annual Harvest Festival at Newton Community Centre. Despite the soggy weather, there was a fantastic turn-out of families and friends. It was great to see so many there!
Ruby Class got the audience on their feet with a thought provoking presentation on world food shortages - what an eye-opener! Amethyst Class sang an incredibly catchy version of Shotgun with vegetables as the theme (I'm still singing it now). Tanzanite Class recited a very entertaining Michael Rosen poem called Where Broccoli Comes From - who knew it came from the armpits of very big green men? Emerald Class read out, as a whole class, a couple of poems including Harvest Time. Diamond Class wowed us all with their singing and actions to their farming song. It was a delightful assembly. Prayers were led by Reverend Jill Manly. A very special thank you came from Clay Cross Foodbank.
Once again, we managed to collect a huge amount of food and toiletries for local families in crisis. Thank you all so much for your generosity and support.
